BOTOX® Cosmetic for Medical Use

Palmetto Ophthalmology Associates is now offering BOTOX® Cosmetic.

BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are administered, with no need for anesthesia, directly into the affected muscle. The injection effectively blocks nerve signals sent to the muscle to prevent it from contracting and to reduce pain.

BOTOX® was FDA approved for cosmetic use in April 2002 and continues to be a popular option to smooth wrinkles and fine lines, prevents future wrinkles, provide a more youthful look and is associated with improved confidence and self-esteem.

If you are thinking about Botox, we invite you to contact our office at 803-359-8777 for more information or to scheudle a consultation to discuss your goals, any risks, and what might work best for you.

New to BOTOX®?

At Palmetto Ophthalmology Associates, your BOTOX® treatment will be administered by a licensed ophthalmologist (M.D.). During your visit, we will begin by reviewing your medical history to ensure you are an appropriate candidate for BOTOX® and do not have any underlying conditions that may contraindicate treatment.

Your aesthetic goals will be discussed and a personalized treatment plan developed tailored to your needs. It is important to note that the effects of BOTOX® are not immediate; initial results typically begin to appear within 1–3 days, although full results may take up to 2 weeks.

BOTOX® generally last between 3 and 4 months, after which maintenance treatments will be necessary to sustain your results.

Each individual responds differently to BOTOX®. For your first treatment, a conservative approach is recommended to minimize the risk of side effects such as brow ptosis (drooping) or other unwanted outcomes. Future treatments will be adjusted based on your desired cosmetic outcome.
